The Scenario:College has become more unaffordable than ever before! As of 2011, the tuition cost of a 4yr bachelor’s degree at a public university is about $30,000. These figures run about 3 to 4 times higher for private colleges and ivy leagues. Living expenses are in addition to these costs and average about $10,000 per year. College should be about providing young adults with the knowledge required to make a smooth transition to adulthood, with skills that will enable a good career. But with the current system of higher education, many are unable to successfully complete college. It has become all about scholarships, SAT scores, admission processes and student loans. Many do not receive enough in scholarship money to make it through college. Most resort to student loans which are a burden that continue for several years after graduation. And with the current state of the economy, there are fewer jobs out there for those who complete college. With the shrinking salaries, even parents find it harder to assist their kids with college money. With the current state of affairs, there has to be a better way!
